Hey all… students and parents.
Just a quick note to let you know that I will keep the class sqworl and StudyLadder accounts open for future use.

I have enjoyed my time teaching at Watsonia Primary School. I have had many great memories there. I look forward to hearing of your successes in the future.

Thanks for reading, viewing and commenting on our posts over the year.

Have a happy and safe Christmas. Farewell.

Stay tuned for our link, or visit our sqworl page to create your own. I hope you can all remember the password!

What Makes A Safe Password

Posted by onetwoac | Posted in Uncategorized | Posted on November 8, 2011

Passwords are becoming more and more common among the lives of children. We use several passwords at school for different purposes. Our teacher has usually made these for us but today we looked at what makes a safe password.

Below are our ideas:

We then used http://passwordbird.com/ to create our own passwords. Then we tried to see if we could guess who the passwords belonged to to discover how safe they really were. A couple of us had our handwriting guessed and we learnt that we probably shouldn’t write down passwords with people around us or who could guess our writing style. Can you guess which password belongs to who?

QR Codes

Posted by onetwoac | Posted in Uncategorized | Posted on October 12, 2011

This week we have been learning about QR Codes or “Quick Response Codes”

These codes are similar to a barcode. They can be “scanned” on any iDevice or smartphone with a camera. The data (information) inside the unique code can link to a website, provide a message to the “scanee” and many other things. (See website below).

We used the website http://www.qrstuff.com/ to create our own unique QR Code. (Ask us how, we’re happy to make one for you!)

Here are some of our QR Codes explaining some items we may include in a healthy lunch. If you have an iPhone, you can download “Scan” here for free: Scan App If you aren’t sure what to do next… ask one of us! We’ll show you!

We are working towards other things we could have in our lunch boxes that are a good, healthy choice other than fruit and vegetables. Can you help us?

We couldn’t go out for P.E. today and so we decided to spend our time learning about how day and night happens.

We then used Paint to create a diagram to explain how the process of day and night occurs. Enjoy!

B.A.R. Key Narratives

1

Posted by onetwoac | Posted in Uncategorized | Posted on September 19, 2011

We have finally completed our narratives using the B.A.R. (thinkers) Key to change a favourite fairytale we knew.

We learnt that fairytales and narratives each have a title, settings, a villain, victims, a hero, problem and a resolution.

Here is how we used the Thinkers B.A.R. key to change a fairytale…

B. BIGGER (We had to make part of the orignal narrative bigger somehow.  This could have involved a character.

A. ADD (We had to add something to the orignal fairytale that wasn’t there before).

R. REMOVE (We had to take something away from the original story).

On top of these expectations, we had to make sure we included all the features of a narrative and proof read and self edit our writing to make sure our meaning was clear and that our stories made good sense.

Check them out below!  See if you can hear the changes we made!  Happy listening…
